Here’s the web address for the Queensland Police Service’s write up about the Maori language and culture program that Te Kohanga Ote Whenua Hou provides to the Brisbane Youth Detention Centre. Whaea Brenda is our language teacher for these classes and although she doesn’t really teach in uniform, this article in the Police Bulletin shows how proud the service is of her involvement in this very important program. The program is called Takahia Whakamua Puutahi (moving forward from the cross roads together), and we celebrated its 10th anniversary in 2006.
