Wed playgroup: Kia Ora everyone and planning for the new year.

Despite the heat lots of the tamariki (children) came to the first day back- though sadly some have left us for big school. The Kohanga format was re-iterated so all the parents knew what to expect. We recapped on last years songs and vowel sounds before reading a pukapuka (book) on kaponga (fern) and learning to draw the koru (special spiral).
Everyone received a handout ‘He panui ta te mata!’ with phrases to use when sharing books at home.
Matua (parents) will take turns reading stories over the next semester and a monthly excursion is still being planned (probably a pool).
Congratulations and thank you to Moroni for his tireless work in successfully securing funding to add nga taonga takaro (Maori and indigenous games) to the activities offered by Kohanga. The details are still being worked out but information will be posted online once available.
