Our Saturday program for primary school aged children called “Tamariki Kohanga” has returned for 2013.
We met last week with some of our whanau from last year, and some new whanau. Our Tamariki recapped on their learning from last year and played some mu torero and did some art.
We also introduced a new theme for the year: “Nga ingoa Maori” (Maori names) the kaupapa for Te wiki o te reo Maori 2013. (Maori language week). In line with this kaupapa, Tamariki Kohanga will have a reo session each week promoting “nga kupu o te wiki” (words of the week) to encourage more use of te reo maori!
The kupu for this week were: awa; whakapapa and whare; and we will be encouraging Tamariki to use them in their pepeha as we progress throughout the year. So checkout our pics from last weeks class. Oh and we had a little manu come visiting as well – see him in our whare! Kia ora
